Israeli forces fire towards Gaza from their position near the coastal enclave on July 21, 2014.[/caption]A meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) Presidential Troika is set to open in Tehran to discuss recent Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
Heads of the parliaments of Mali, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkey will take part in the emergency summit, which is scheduled to kick off in the Iranian capital later on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) Salim Zanoun will also participate in the one-day event, which will focus on the Israel regimes ongoing onslaught against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has also invited heads of the parliaments of other Muslim countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Malaysia, Algeria and Indonesia to attend the event.
The PUIC Presidential Troika consists of the previous, current, and future presidents of the PUIC Conference, which is currently presided by Iran.
Over the past 15 days, Israeli warplanes have been hitting numerous targets in the Gaza Strip, demolishing homes and burying families in the rubble. Israeli tanks also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.
Latest reports say Israeli raids have killed more than 575 Palestinians and injured 3,500 others so far. Around 30 Israelis have also been killed in the war.
