Iran, Tunisia to expand cinematic cooperation

Tehran, July 2, IRNA - Iran and Tunisia are to sign an agreement to boost cinematic cooperation in producing joint movies, screening short films and holding training sessions.
The agreement is to be signed by Habib Ilbeigi, the managing director of Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), and the representative of Tunisia Friendship Association.
On Tuesday, Ilbeigi accompanied by Hojjatollah Ayyoubi, the head of Cinematic Organization of Iran, met members of the Tunisian association.

In the meeting, the two sides agreed that the North African country screens a number of Iranian flicks in its cinemas.

Expressing amazement with the IYCS?s expanded structure, Tunisian representatives called on the society to help them establish their own Cinema Society office in Tunisia.

Also, it was decided in the meeting that the Iranian society screens a number of feature and youth cinema films which were appreciated and received very well in international festivals, in Tunisia.

The two sides also agreed to hold training courses in Tunisia conducted by Iranian cineastes.

Tunisia is among those African countries which has a successful cinema industry. The country produces several feature and short films per year.

The representatives of the Tunisian delegation said Iranian flicks are broadcast on Tunisia?s television, adding the Tunisian audience is familiar with Iranian cinema.
