TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has the largest fleet of road and sea tankers in the Middle-East for transferring energy supplies, an oil official announced on Monday.
"Around 10,000 oil tankers in 400 private transportation companies are carrying a considerable volume of fuel via the roads," Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) for Supply and Distribution Abbas Filsarayee said in an interview with the Islamic republic news agency.
He stressed efficiency of the Iranian fleet, saying the age of Iran's road oil tankers is equal to the European countries.
Filsarayee underlined that Iran has the largest fuel transfer fleet in the Middle-East.
NIOPDC left behind a satisfactory record last year in view of distribution of oil products, its president said in March.
Mostafa Kashkouli, the managing director of NIOPDC, said the company succeeded to distribute more than 85 billion liters of various oil products over the first 11 months of the last Iranian calendar year ended on March 21, 2014.
Out of 26 billion liters of liquid fuel delivered to power plants, gasoil and fuel oil made up 11.5 and 14.5 billion liters respectively, he noted.
According to Kashkouli, power plants gasoil consumption rose by 62 percent year on year.
He further noted that over the 11 months of the last year, gasoline and gasoil distribution rose by 1.6 and 2.7 billion liters respectively.
