NPC building Propylene plant in Iranshahr

NPC building Propylene plant in Iranshahr
TEHRAN June 29 (Shana)--Iran's National Petrochemical Company is building a new petrochemical plant near Iranshahr city in the southeastern province of Sistan Balochestan to become a propylene-centered complex.

Deputy Petroleum Minister for petrochemical affairs Abbas Sheri Moqqadam's remarks came after his last week visit to the city.

He said his visit was aimed at examining the needs and requirements of setting up the plant in the city.
Sheri Moqqadam noted that his aerial visit showed that all the three potential locations for building the petrochemical plant were appropriate places for the project because all of them have access to water, land road and railroad.

Vicinity to Iranshahr city is another privilege for building the petrochemical plant in the area because it provides access to local residents of the city as workforce, the official said.
According to Sheri Moqqadam, Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is a good source for providing the feedstock the complex needs to.

We have already built enough ammoniac and ore units across the country, so we have decided to start building a propylene-centered complex in Iranshahr which at the same time can create more jobs in the downstream sector, according to Sheri Moqqadam.

He added that in building the complex all environmental concerns have been taking into account.
In addition to Iranshahr petrochemical plant, further petrochemical units are scheduled to be built in other cities of Sistan Baloshestan province including in Chabahar, concluded Sheri Moqqadam who is also managing director of NPC.
