He noted that the Western worlds military superiority is losing legitimacy and credibility throughout the world.
It is also to be noticed that there is this huge new initiative by the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council and Saudi Arabia to militarize the whole thing and I do not know whether or not Israel will see that as a positive thing to the extent that it is directed against Iran, at least potentially, the commentator said.
Oberg added that there is a strong Israeli attempt to influence talks between Iran and the P5+1 over Tehrans nuclear energy program, saying the US President Barack Obama is a weak president at the moment despite his intention to deal with Iran.
He expressed hope that Europe would be a kind of go-between with a more soft policy despite it has more than enough of its own problems.
The analysts comments came after former head of Israels nuclear program Brigadier General Uzi Eilam said that Netanyahu is fear-mongering about Irans nuclear energy program for his own political gain.
In an interview with Israels Ynet, Eilam criticized the Israeli premiers policies on Iran and said he is making a fuss over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program for personal political advantages.
