A Europe-based Middle East expert insists that Saudi Arabia is the key sponsor of massive al-Qaeda-linked terror campaign in Iraq and Syria with full knowledge and backing of the US.
They (the Saudi regime) turned Arabia [in]to a big, sort of, military base for the United States of America to attack its neighbors, said Belfast-based author and Middle East affairs expert Saeb Shaath in a Sunday interview withPress TV.
From the very beginning of the establishment of the kingdom, Shaath added, the Saudis have brought bloodshed to the surrounding countries and they are in total alliance with these Zionist and the Americans and some of the other Western powers.
During the interview, Shaath also blamed the Persian Gulf dictatorship for instigating civil war in Lebanon on the side of the Israeli regime, bringing chaos to Iraq in the early [19]90s and persuading [former Iraqi dictator] Saddam [Hussein] to attack Iran with the help of the United States of America prior to that in the 1980s.
He further emphasized that while US Vice President Joe Biden claimed sympathy with the Iraqi prime minister earlier in August for so many casualties of recent bombings in the nation and describing al-Qaeda as the common enemy of both countries, prior US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted that al-Qaeda was built by the United States of America, financed by Saudi Arabia and manned by the Wahabi terrorists, calling the shadowy terror group as a great investment of the United States of America.
Shaath, moreover, described the American military establishment and the CIA spy agency as definite partners in the Saudi terror campaign in Iraq.
He also reiterated that other American regional allies such as the Tel Aviv regime, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are playing a role in the Iraqi carnage.
Saudi Arabia is sponsoring sectarian incitement in Iraq and this has partners such as Turkey and Israel as well, and Emirates who are financing and training and supporting the terror forces in Iraq, he said.
Shaath went on to note that fugitive former Iraqi vice president Tariq al-Hashemi, who is being protected by Turkey, came to Iraq on the back of an American occupation tank, referring to the 7-year military occupation of the nation by the US that began in 2003.
Hashemi has left behind him so many men he planted in the body of the Iraqi government institutional army and these people are planning and carrying such atrocities in Iraq, he emphasized.
Iraq has been struggling with a major surge of terror bombings and other violence since the beginning of this year. Over 670 people have been killed in the holy month of Ramadan alone.
The United Nations said on August 1 that a total of 1,057 Iraqis were killed and another 2,326 were wounded in acts of terrorism and violence in the month of July, making it the countrys deadliest month since 2008.
