Iraq gets new government after months of political deadlock

The Wall Street Journal | Ghassan Adnan and Isabel Coles: Iraq swore in a new government after months of political deadlock that has hampered the countrys ability to respond to multiple crises exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Lawmakers wearing surgical masks and gloves to protect against the virus early Thursday voted in 15 of the ministerial candidates presented by intelligence chief Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who now becomes prime minister. Mr. Kadhimi was tasked last month by President Barham Salih to put together a cabinet.
