The Washington Post | Hooman Majd: Since the United States killed Qasem Soleimani in Iraq last week, President Trump has only ramped up his threats against Iran. But in his utter lack of understanding of the country, its revolutionary government or Iranians themselves, he keeps making the same error again and again.
The president failed to grasp that many Iranians even some of the same ones who were protesting against their government and its Islamic system only a few weeks ago, before crackdown would take offense that a foreign power would kill one of their generals, someone viewed as an Iranian patriot and nationalist, and then openly boast about it.
