February 15, The Iran Project - Lack of participation at the two-day Warsaw Conference, organized by the US in the Polish capital on February 13-14, which originally meant to target Iran reflected anger�at�unilateral US policymaking on the Islamic Republic. And another anti-Iran attempt by Washington faced a major setback due to an international boycott of the gathering.

The anti-Iran meeting�was announced by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last month. Pompeo at the time described it as a platform for focusing on the "important element of making sure that Iran is not a destabilizing influence."

But the original summit agenda was scrapped after Europe told Washington it was "not a very smart idea" to hold a summit that would highlight Europe�s differences with the US over Iran. The EU was not consulted before Pompeo's snap announcement.

World leaders boycott�anti-Iran Warsaw summit

Federica Mogherini, the EU external affairs chief, didn't take part in the event and the UK foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, left the summit early while France sent a civil servant and Germany its junior foreign minister.

The EU remained strongly supportive of the 2015 Iran nuclear accord that was abandoned by the US, even if it criticizes Iran�s ballistic missile program. It has finally devised a preliminary trading vehicle to resist US� sanctions on firms that continue to trade with Iran.

Besides,� Lebanese officials and Palestinian Authority�refused to attend the US-led summit. Earlier, Russia�either voiced its opposition to the move.

The US-held summit isolated itself

According to Vox report, the US-led conference in Warsaw that was intended to isolate Iran has ended up isolating America instead � highlighting one of the central problems of President Donald Trump�s foreign policy.

His annoyed European allies, many of whom sent only low-level diplomatic staff � or not representation at all � to attend the meeting. The discord on the issue of Iran dates back most recently to last May when the US withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, and European allies like France and Britain agreed to remain in the accord.

Iran decries Warsaw summit final statement

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi dismissed the allegations raised in the final statement of the Warsaw Conference, describing the statement as a proof of the anti-Iran summit�s failure.

Despite Washington�s tremendous efforts to hold an all-inclusive summit and create a new alliance against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the small number and low level of those attending the conference turned the final statement of the summit into a useless document which was developed only by the two organizers of the summit and lacked any credibility, Ghasemi said in a Friday statement.

According to Ghasemi, even those few and low-ranking participants refused to put their weight behind any anti-Iran decision at the conference, which was a nonstarter from the beginning.

Arab world's rage over� humiliation at Warsaw summit

The Warsaw summit outraged observers in the Arab world who believe their leaders attended the conference merely as �extras� in a pre-planned scenario for normalization of Israeli-Arab ties.

In an editorial piece on Thursday, Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm news and opinion website, said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the �groom� at the Warsaw conference, and the foreign ministers of Arab countries were �extras� summoned by the US to help normalize Arab ties with the Israeli regime.

While European officials, the main allies of the US in the NATO, had also boycotted the conference or sent low-ranking officials to Warsaw, the Persian Gulf Arab foreign ministers decided to join the new �Warsaw Treaty�, led by the US and Israel, for a war against Iran, said the senior Palestinian commentator, describing it as a humiliation for the Arab world.

�The Warsaw summit was a shame for all its attendees,� the statement said.

Polish youth deplore Warsaw meeting

Iran�s Ambassador in London Hamid Baeidinejad said that a group of Polish youth in a letter to Iran�s Embassy deplored holding Warsaw meeting as a result of the US and Zionist regime's pressures, describing the move as against the country�s national interests.

In a Twitter message, Baeidinejad released a copy of the letter reading \"�we regret that Polish government has engaged itself in anti-Iran propaganda and we ensure that the Polish people do not endorse antagonistic policies against Tehran aimed at damaging the two countries� historic and cultural ties."

Writers of the letter added that despite political developments in Poland, the government is still dominated by the communist elements and they are controlling courts, banks, and many other state organizations.

It should be noted that�Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Israel and Arab countries were sitting down together in Poland and discussed "war with Iran".
