The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has endorsed a US-backed proposal that aims to end Israel’s more than eight-month genocidal war on Gaza and establish a ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian territory.

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has said the Zionist regime is facing “unprecedented isolation” in the world, a day after the UN Security Council passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has welcomed a Monday resolution by the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as a positive yet insufficient step.
