Vladimir Putin has discussed the Rasht-Astara railway and the International North-South Transport Corridor during his recent visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Russian president's aide Igor Levitin says.

Bazrpash and Levitin met in Tehran after almost three months in order to monitor the implementation of the Rasht-Astara Railway project and promotion of transit along the INSTC.

Iranian and Russian officials have held talks in the capital Tehran, discussing a host of issues including the Rasht-Astara railway project, with both sides stressing the need for speeding up the construction of the crucial railway.

Iran’s minister of roads and urban development said a trade contract will be signed for the construction operation of the Rasht-Astara railway project in the coming days.
