Tehran, March 7, IRNA � Iranian foreign minister delivered President Hassan Rouhani?s message to Indonesia?s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in a meeting with him in Jakarta, Friday evening.
According to the Media Office of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Mohammad-Javad Zarif while conveying the friendship message of President Rouhani delivered his written message to his Indonesian counterpart, including an invitation for an official visit of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian top diplomat in the meeting highlighted the importance of the two major Islamic countries? relations, adding that there is no obstacle in the way of expansion of Tehran-Jakarta relations today.

?Tehran believes based on numerous commonalties, it is possible to act in various regional and international levels and use the potentials of the two major Islamic countries at the service of strengthening the Islamic unity and contributing to resolving the problems of the Muslims, such as sectarian and extremism,? reiterated Zarif.

He said that the two countries? cooperation in petrochemical, or, and gas fields is good and still expanding, stressing the need for boosting investments and banking cooperation between the two countries.

President Yudhoyono, too, in the meeting referred to the expanding relations of the two countries? relations and stressed that there are lots of opportunities that need to be identified and exploited.

The Indonesian president said that cooperation between Iran and Indonesia can play an important role in resolving the regional problems, stressing the need for broader consultations and cooperation.

Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, after holding talks with Indonesian senior officials, departed Jakarta for Tehran on Friday afternoon.

Zarif arrived in Jakarta on Thursday morning for a 2-day visit and met with his Indonesian counterpart Marti Natalegawa.

After the meeting, Zarif said that relations between the two countries have always been in an acceptable level, but in the past two years it declined; now it is necessary that political consultations be strengthened and grounds for economic, technical, engineering, tourism and cultural cooperation be expanded.

He said that necessity of moving towards a world free of nuclear weapons, violence, and radicalism is among common stances of both countries and we hope Indonesia plays a more active role in Islamic unity and religious proximity.

Zarif delivered a speech in a gathering of Indonesian diplomats, academics, university professors, and students and explained principles of Iran?s foreign policy.

He also explained Iran?s approach in talks with Group 5+1.

Zarif underlined that Iran does not want nuclear weapons, adding that Tehran wants to reach an agreement and west should achieve confidence of Iranian nation.

Zarif attended Esteqlal Mosque, the largest one in Indonesia, and participated in Friday prayers.
