Snow closes schools, contributes to Tehrans traffic
TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (MNA) Snow has closed schools in Tehran and exacerbated already heavy traffic in streets.
Iran Meteorological Organization has predicted snowy weather for the future 24 hours in most of the regions of the country.

The snow started midnight and embraced Tehran with a white robe. The Education Ministry announced that due to the heavy traffic and the rather cold weather schools in Tehran are closed today. The Municipalitys Snow Management secretariat has been active operating in Tehrans main roads and highways. The traffic police said traffic in streets is heavy but passing with no traffic jams.

A Municipality snow management office manager told Mehr News that in line with the predictions by Meteorological Organization of continuing snow, all snow removal secretariats had been on alert. Tehrans district mayors oversee directly the snow removing operations in streets.

Part of our facilities has been sent to Northern provinces of Guilan and Mazandaran to provide help, but thanks to the attempts by Municipality workers, citizens would easily drive in streets today, although we received some problems in other parts by citizens and worked to solve the problem, he added.

Traffic in main lines

The reduced speed due to snow has contributed to the already heavy traffic in main roads and highways. Traffic police have been working to control the plate numbers of cars permitted to drive in even and odd days. The Education department announced that all kindergartens and elementary schools are closed in Tehrans 19 districts. In districts 1 to 5, the guidance schools are also closed due to snow and cold, with high schools closed as well.
