Tasnim All probes into the alleged influence Russia causes on US President Donald Trumps policies afoot in Washington have yielded nothing but laughable results and already devalued themselves, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Tuesday.
"There have been so many such investigations that their significance has been devalued," he said.
"In general, they look ever less serious. It is most important that none of the previously launched investigations has yielded any serious findings. All were laughable", he added, TASS reported.
Asked for a comment about the start of yet another such investigation, Peskov said: "We have no opportunity or wish to make comments on each newly-launched investigation, initiated by this or that group of legislators in the United States. By and large, this is possibly none of our business. It is an entirely US affair."
On Monday, the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee began a new investigation of Donald Trumps election campaign, the activities of his team following the election victory and Trumps businesses, CNN said. The probe will focus on suspected obstruction of justice, collusion with Russia and abuse of power. The information obtained in this way may be used as a reason for launching impeachment procedures.
The Judiciary Committee began the probe at a time when another investigation, conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller is coming to an end. Mueller has for nearly two years been trying to find out if there was anything tangible behind the rumors of attempts at influencing the US election in 2016 and whether the head of state committed no wrongdoing during his election campaign or presidency. Trump and his aides have repeatedly dismissed all suspicion of unlawful contacts with Russian officials during the election campaign. Moscow, too, has repeatedly denied the allegations it had tried to influence the outcome of the US presidential election.
