IRNA � Iran's Foreigm Minister Javad zarif said he hoped his resignation serves as a reminder to urge the Foreign Ministry to reclaim its legal position in maintaining foreign relations.

'I humbly urge all my colleagues in the Foreign Ministry and Iran's foreign missions to be fully committed to defending the country and avoid taking such measures,' Zarif said in a message referring to the decisions by Iranian diplomats and officials in the foreign Ministry to follow suit and resign.

Zarif wrote late on Monday in his Instagram page that he had resigned from his post.

Deputy spokesman of Foreign Ministry Seyyed Abbas Mousavi in an earlier interview with IRNA confirmed the originality of his Instagram post and resignation of the foreign minister.

Zarif's resignation has not been accepted yet by President Hassan Rouhani.
