Minister: Iran attracts $12.7bn foreign investment last year

IRNA Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Farhad Dejpasand says volume of foreign investment rose to $12.7 billion in the last Iranian calendar year of 1396 (March 2017-March 2018) from about $69 million in the 2000s.

Dejpasand told a group of foreign investors that the mining and energy field is lucrative for investment.

He invited foreign investors, especially Afghans, to do business in Iran.

Dejpasand said Iran has the strongest laws on foreign investment.

'For the time being, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the most modern laws on foreign investment; here is not your second home because when your capital in the first project bears fruit, Iran will become your first home,' said the minister.

The minister noted that in the future there will be reforms in the laws for attracting and facilitating investment.
