IRNA Enemies of Iran and Iraq are seeking to make sedition between Iranian and Iraqi people, a senior Iranian official said on Monday.
Today, enemies seeking sedition between the two countries wish to prevent Iraqi and Iranian pilgrims from holding the Arbaeen ceremony in the best possible manner, Iran's Military Attach in Iraq Mostafa Moradian told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The official said that a joint security committee between Iran and Iraq has been established to provide security for the religious ceremony.
Iran and Iraq signed a MoU on Arbaeen ritual recently.
The MoU envisions making necessary arrangements for Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It marks the end of 40-day mourning after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shia Muslims.
