IRGC Security Commander: Iranian VIPs protected against bioterrorism

FNA- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) VIP and Flight Guards Corps Brigadier General Ali Nassiri underlined that his force is giving Iranian officials and figures protection against any bioterrorism attack.

"One of the threats in the field of terrorism is bioterrorism. It is a new threat and has a different form. We have provided the necessary possibilities and trainings against bioterrorism and have indigenized many of these possibilities," General Nassiri said on Tuesday.

He stressed that the skilled IRGC VIP and Flight Guards have been trained to protect the country's officials from the danger of bioterrorism.

Elsewhere, General Nassiri announced the IRGC Flight Guards Corps' willingness to share its experiences with the friendly states.

In relevant remarks in May, General Nassiri said that his forces had thwarted 15 hijacking attempts on Iranian planes in the past 34 years.

"We have had 15 cases of plane hijacking since 1984," General Nassiri told reporters in Tehran, adding that his forces have brought the situation under control in 11 cases and resolved 4 more incidents through talks with hijackers.

He also said no Iranian VIPs have been assassinated since 1980, a year after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and mentioned that the Iranian nuclear scientists and martyr Ali Sayyad Shirazi were assassinated because they were not protected by bodyguards.

Also, in 2015, an IRGC commander revealed that the flight guard forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps had defused several plots hatched by the terrorist ISIL group to hijack the Iranian planes.

Speaking to FNA on attempts to hijack the Iranian planes in recent years, Deputy Chief Liaison Officer of Flight Guards Corps Yaqoub Baqeri spoke of the terrorist ISIL group's failed plots in this regard.

"The ISIL and other Salafi groups sought to hit a blow to our country this way, but fortunately, they couldnt put their plots into practice," Baqeri said.
