Pakistan to fortify security in borders with Iran: Envoy

IRNA Pakistan Ambassador to Iran said that his country plans to deploy more troops in borders with Iran to prevent penetration of outlaws from Pakistan to Iran.

Pakistan has created a special command and 'is expected to deploy near 10 thousand soldiers in the borders with Iran,' Asif Ali Khan Durrani said in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of the 23rd Press Exhibition at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque) in Tehran.

He said that the security situation in the region has improved and will become better in the future.

Iran has always suffered the attacks of terrorists groups and outlaw groups from the Pakistani side of the border.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Pakistan envoy also called for elevation of economic ties from the current 1.1 billion dollars to the targeted goal of 5 billion dollars in the four coming years.

He expressed satisfaction with 35 percent growth in trade exchange between Tehran and Islamabad in 2016.

The official welcomed promotion of cooperation between Iranian and Pakistani media.
