Astara non-oil exports hit 100,000 tons

IRNA - 100,000 tons of non-oil goods were exported from a northwestern Iran Customs in the first four-month period of this (Persian) year, an official said on Wednesday.


Most of the exported goods, with a value of $53 million are agricultural produce, chemicals, minerals, metals, foodstuffs, cement, detergents, textiles, handicrafts, garments, and plastic products that were exported to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia, General-Director of Astara Customs Office Rasoul Omidi told reporters.

Noting that 22,000 tons of goods were transported via the Customs Office in the period, he added that the figure has increased 57 percent in weight and 22 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

The goods transited via the Customs are mostly wooden instruments, oil products, cotton, synthetic fibers, iron and copper from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine to Turkey, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

This Iranian year (beginning on March 21), 30 tons of goods with a value of $143,000 in the form of suitcase trade have been exported via Astara Customs, Omidi said.
