Sputnik News- United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Monday that international monitoring is needed to resolve the diplomatic row between Qatar and a number of Persian Gulf states.
International monitoring is needed toresolve the diplomatic crisis betweenthePersian Gulf states and Qatar, which emerged a month ago overDoha's alleged support forterrorism, Gargash said inprepared remarks tobe delivered later onMonday.
"We need a regional solution and international monitoring. We need tobe certain that Qatar, a state with $300 billion inreserves, is no longer an official or unofficial sponsor ofterrorist causes," Gargash is expected tosay inhis speech inLondon, asquoted bythe Middle East's newspaper The National.
Gargash welcomed the US-Qatari memorandum todisrupt financing ofterrorist organizations, signed last week, and described it asa positive sign.
In June, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE severed diplomatic ties withQatar overits alleged terror funding. ThePersian Gulf states put forth 13 demands toQatar, including lessening the level ofrelations withIran, the halt ofterror funding, and non-interference inthe internal affairs ofthe Arab countries. Qatar rejected the demands regarding them asneither acceptable nor based onevidence.
