Spokesman: Iran not to implement UNESCO’s unethical document

IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that Iran’s unchangeable stance will not implement parts of the UNESCO Global Education 2030 Agenda which runs against national priorities, religious beliefs and ethical values of the Islamic society of Iran.

After Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s sympathetic complaint about some sections of the document known as ‘UNESCO Global Education 2030 Agenda’, it was reviewed immediately on the order of President Hassan Rouhani and under supervision of Foreign Minister Zarif. 'No doubt that Supreme Leader’s guidelines are illuminating in all fields.'

All governmental sections, especially Foreign Ministry, has never surrendered to what contravenes even an iota of religious beliefs, ethical, religious, social and Islamic values and they will never do so, Qasemi said.

All the other institutes have also adopted the same approach and they have not remained indifferent towards international agreements running against ethical and religious paradigms, he said.

Qasemi said that any section of 2030 document contradicting the Iranian and Islamic culture, religious, social and ethical beliefs are not enforceable and the country has no commitment towards implementing it.

The issue as Iran’s stable, principled and unchangeable stance has been officially declared to UNESCO, he concluded
