IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran seeks further expansion of amicable relations with the Muslim and neighboring countries.


President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with special envoy of Kuwaiti Emir and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah in Tehran on Wednesday.

President said Iran wants ties with the neighbors and Muslim countries based on the policies of mutual respect, good neighborliness and Islamic brotherhood.

He said Tehran believes that will of nations is the most important component in sovereignty and management of countries. 'Though being targeted by enemies' aggression after the Islamic Revolution and has never invaded any country, the Islamic Republic of Iran has proved its role as the most important bulwark against any aggression and terrorism in the region.'

He announced that stability and security in the sensitive Middle East region will be possible only in light of dialogue, friendship and cooperation among regional countries, especially neighbors.

He added that without the least doubt, progress and development of countries and regional nations will favor stability and security of all.

Elsewhere in his remarks, President referred to the efforts and endeavors of Iran in helping regional nations and governments to fight terrorism and said, 'Terrorism is a big danger for the region and we can resist it only in light of unity, integration and assistance of each other.'

The Islamic Republic of Iran's power has always served defense of security and stability of region and support for the neighbors, he added.

Hojjatoleslam Rouhani said political, economic and cultural ties between Iran and Kuwait should reach a favorable status regarding their capacities and interests of the two nations.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran supports and helps any move in line with expansion of stability and security in the region.'
Al-Sabah, submitting written message of Kuwaiti Emir to Iranian president, said for his part that Kuwait Emir, government and people have always been attacking great respect to Iranian government and nation and the influential role of the country in the region.

He appreciated Iran's endeavors and efforts to expand cooperation and relations among regional states, especially the neighbors, and said, 'We should try to use the existing commonalties and capacity for all-out expansion of relations between the two countries.'

He described Takfiri terrorism and extremism in the region as 'dangerous and said integrated efforts should be launched by regional countries to confront the extremist terrorist groups in the region and all should contribute to establishment of stability and security in the region.

Al-Sabah arrived in Tehran on Wednesday noon.

He met with Iran's Foreign Minister, Mohammad-Javad Zarif, and they discussed bilateral ties and latest international and regional developments.
