Good news on joining ITER to be heard

TEHRAN, Oct. 06 (MNA) AEOI spokesperson has said there has been much progress in Irans efforts to join ITER as having observer status.

Behrouz Kamalvandi told Irans state TV broadcaster IRIB that the good news of joining the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project would be communicated to the public. There has been much progress in AEOIs efforts to secure an observer state for Iran in the project, he added.

On the latest state of Irans heavy water (deuterium), Kamalvandi said that all the heavy water content had been sold to the US and Russia, in two separate 70- and 130-ton packages; other countries has proposed buying Irans heavy water as well, notably France; however, the country has acted faltering and an state of indecision as to how to start the process rules their conduct, since the government should carry out some internal arrangements, for which we suggested offering help in accelerating the issuance of permits through diplomatic means, he told IRIB. We predict French clients will get the necessary permits any time soon.

On the prices of heavy water, the spokesperson said that before the price, the size of the package would be quite critical to the price tagging of the product; the smaller the package, the higher the prices will go; packaging however is not free of its own costs; Iran has not yet trodden to retail market of heavy water, where the product is marketed in small sizes as milliliter packages, Kamalvandi detailed.

We are now in a position to receive orders for future products of heavy water; about the Oman reserves, I think there is no such reserves in Oman and elsewhere, Kamalvandi told IRIB.

On a question of possible sabotage to hinder Irans accession to ITER, he said that no serious sabotage efforts had been detected in other cases as well.
