The Iranian nuclear chief says the Islamic Republic is ready to cooperate with regional countries on the development of nuclear energy.

Addressing the annual World Nuclear Association Symposium in London on Friday, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, said the Persian Gulf littoral states are interested in developing nuclear energy and expressed Tehran�s readiness to transfer its experience to them in this field.

He pointed to the AEOI�s increasing cooperation with international nuclear industry enterprises after the implementation of last year�s nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and invited firms interested in cooperation with Tehran to participate in the organization�s projects.

Salehi also said Iran plans to produce 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity and said, "Making investments on small 100-megawatt power plants are among Iran's�priorities in this regard."

Iran is attending the London symposium at a high level following the JCPOA implementation and partial removal of nuclear-related sanctions.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council � the United States, France, Britain, China and Russia � plus Germany finalized the text of the JCPOA in Vienna, Austria, on July 14, 2015. They started implementing the agreement on January 16.

Under the deal, all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the European Union, the Security Council and the US would be lifted. Iran has, in return, put some limitations on its nuclear activities.
