According to The Iran Project, Addressing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Pezeshkian stressed the need to catch up with the neighboring countries in taking the opportunities available in Makran coasts in order to “achieve a superior position in the region in line with the goals of the 20-Year Vision Document”.

“Therefore, necessary coordination has been made to employ top international consultants to prepare a comprehensive plan and roadmap for the development of the Makran region," the president added, his official website reported.

“We have not had a comprehensive and all-encompassing plan as a roadmap for the development of Makran, and various bodies have taken actions based on their missions and responsibilities in this regard,” Pezeshkian added.

He described the coasts of Makran region as the most important foundation for sustainable and long-term development in Iran, saying the country’s future is tied to the development of this area.

The president noted that after preparing a comprehensive plan based on thorough studies and assessments of the capacities and opportunities in Makran, the responsibilities of administrative bodies will be specified, and their actions will proceed in a coordinated manner.

Pasabandar, also known as the coasts of Makran, is located in Iran's southeastern region, next to the Oman Sea.

The strategic area has attracted the attention of many Iranian decision-makers and military officials, particularly after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need for the development of the region.
