Iran, Ecuador sign three cooperation documents

Quito, Aug 25, IRNA The Islamic Republic of Iran and Ecuador have signed three banking and agricultural cooperation documents.


The cooperation documents were signed in the presence of the two country's foreign ministers Javad Zarif and Guillaume Long on Wednesday local time.

Hossein Yaqoubi, Iran's Central Bank Deputy Governor for International Affairs and Rodrigo Landeta Parra, Managing Director of Ecuador's Central Bank inked the comprehensive banking cooperation document.

Meanwhile, Director of Plant Protection Organization of Iran Mohammad Ali Baghestani Meibodi and his Ecuadorian counterpart Diego Alfonso signed an agricultural cooperation document.

The documents signed between Tehran and Quito will facilitate production and export of Ecuador's agricultural products to the Middle East and Central Asia through Iran.

Zarif, heading a 120-member delegation is on a six-nation tour of Latin America in a bid to broaden economic cooperation between Iran and the states in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister was in Cuba on Monday and travelled to Nicaragua on Tuesday.

Following Ecuador, Zarif will visit Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela later this week.
