Islamabad, July 28, IRNA -- Pakistan and Iran are both committed to prevent terrorist threats and curb the menace of drug and human trafficking, specially in border areas, Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson said at his weekly press conference on Thursday.

Pointing to a recent joint statement released at the end of Pakistan�s National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua's three-day visit to Tehran this week, Nafees Zakaria said: the joint statement shows the resolve of both sides to curb the menace of drug and human trafficking as well as improving coordination in preventing terrorist threats in respective border areas.

�We shall continue to remain engaged with Iranian side till the realization of these objectives� he noted.

'Pakistan has remained in touch with Iranian authorities regarding formulation of institutional mechanism to improve coordination, communication and information sharing between border security agencies of the two countries through discussions.'

The Pakistani official paid a formal three-day visit to Tehran this week and discussed bilateral, security, border and regional issues with a number of Iranian security and government officials.
