TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Italy�s two largest oil and gas companies, Eni and Saras, seek to buy 170,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Iran.

Eni and Saras have submitted their requests to the Iranian oil ministry for the purchase of 100,000 bpd and 70,000 bpd respectively.

According to the Iranian co-chairman of Iran-Italy Joint Chamber of Commerce, one of the main topics due to be discussed during an upcoming visit by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to Tehran is facilitating the purchase of crude by the Italian firms.

Renzi is slated to arrive in Iran on Tuesday at the head of a 120-member economic delegation.

Back in February, Iran finalized a deal with France�s Total to restart selling crude.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said at the time that Iran�s new contracts with European firms would raise the daily amount of oil exports to Europe to more than 300,000 bpd.

European countries� growing interest in expansion of economic ties with Iran follows the implementation of a final nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

The lasting nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), came into force on January 16 and terminated all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran.
