Tehran, April 7, IRNA A senior nuclear official announced here that Iran has entered the club of countries with the know-how of rare earth elements thanks to the efforts made by its experts in the field of modern nuclear knowledge.
Ali Asghar Zare'an, deputy head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), made the remarks on Thursday on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the National Nuclear Technology Day in Tehran.
The rare earth elements (REEs) are commonly defined as lanthanum (La) and the 14 elements comprising the Lanthanide series. Their use in agriculture yielded positive effects in terms of crop yield and body weight of poultry. It is only 50 years that the world has become familiar with the knowledge.
During the ceremony, Zare'an said Iran's latest nuclear achievements would be unveiled including two news types of advanced centrifuges which have so far been only produced by the US and Japan.
The IAEO's experts have succeeded to break the monopoly and made Iran the third world country with the ability to produce the two types of centrifuges, Zare'an said.
He added that other nuclear achievements also included two nuclear achievements related to designing new vaccines for the Health Ministry and a third one for complexes of non-destructive fuel elements for nuclear reactors.
