Iran, Russia review expansion of parliamentary ties

Moscow, Dec 18, IRNA Iranian senior MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel and Deputy Speaker of Russias Federation Council (Upper House) Ilyas Umakhanov in a meeting here on Friday supported promotion of bilateral ties through development of parliamentary ties.


'Both countries are determined to safeguard their independence, and their leaders are decided on continuation of mutual cooperation,' Haddad-Adel said quoted in a press release issued by Iranian Embassy in Moscow.
According to he head of the Principalists Faction in the parliament (Majlis) who is also advisor to the Supreme Leader, Iran and Russia are sharing same ideas as in both countries' academic forums, there are talks of the resistive economy.
'West has helped the terrorism tumor to grow under the guise of fighting terrorism. Cooperation between Iran and Russia (against terror) has angered the west,' he added.
Umakhanov said Iran and Russia are being inspired by the leadership of the two countries as the examples to be followed for development of bilateral ties.
'Iran and Russian Federation have established ties in various frameworks,' said the Russian lawmaker adding that Moscow is ready to increase its trade and economic ties with Tehran.
The Iranian and Russian parliamentarians also exchanged views on major regional and international developments including bilateral cooperation in fighting terrorism.
