Alwaght- Somalia's al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab terrorists have been urged to lay down arms and choose the path to peace, and warned against pledging allegiance to ISIS terrorists.
The warning was issued by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud said in a statement on Wednesday following reports of a dispute within al-Shabab Takfiris on whether to switch allegiance. The Somali president noted that the infighting among al Shabab factions is symptomatic of a group that has lost its way.
Unconfirmed reports say that al-Shabab factions have shifted allegiance from al-Qaeda Takfiri group to ISIS, another terrorist outfit mainly operating in Iraq and Syria.
Mohamoud further said both al-Qaeda and ISIS are destroyers, adding that Somalis do not need a new brand of horror and repression.
The president also called on Shabab elements to surrender, saying, Do not think that your choice is limited to one of two puppet-masters, al-Qaeda or ISIS. There is another option, the right and holy option: the path to peace.
Several days ago Nigerias Boko Haram Takfiri terrorist group reached out to alShabab, urging it to switch its loyalty to the ISIS terrorists
In 2012 al-Shabab declared its affiliation to al Qaeda terrorists group. Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to ISIS earlier this year.
Al Shabab started their terror campaign in Somalia in 2006 and have spread tentacles to neighboring countries especially Kenya where they have killed hundreds on innocent people in bomb attacks and shootings.
