A senior Iranian Army commander says the Islamic Republic is faced with a new form of threats, stressing the countrys Armed Forces are fully prepared to confront enemies in proxy war.
The existence of terrorist groups has created new threats and we are fully prepared to enter the domain of proxy wars, Commander of the Iranian Armys Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reporters on the sidelines of major missile maneuvers in central Iran on Monday.
He added that Iran adopts tactics and approaches to counter threats given the existence of terrorist and Takfiri groups.
The Iranian Army is prepared enoughto defend andestablish full security along borders, he said.
All moves onthe borders as well as inthe regionand trans-regional [areas] are monitored, Pourdastan added.
The top commander emphasized that Irans defense industry is highly capable of meeting thedemands of the Armed Forces at the shortest possible time.
He said the Iranian Armed Forces have what it takes todefend the country and will make any country that poses a threat toIran regret its actions.
Pourdastans remarks came as the Iranian Armys Ground Forces successfully staged the final stage of the missile exercise,codenamed Beit-ul-Muqaddas 27, in the central province of Isfahan.
The Beit-ul-Muqaddas 27 drill began in three locations on May 21 and will end on May 27.
