Iran urges control on Syria borders to end shipment of arms

TEHRAN, Apr. 22 (MNA) Irans deputy FM for Arab-African affairs called for regulatory measures to end shipment of arms and munitions to Syrian groups involved in civil war.

Irans Deputy FM for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Tuesday called for an end to shipment of arms and munitions to Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Shabon, special envoy of Sweden on Syria.

Appreciating the Swedish humanitarian emergency supplies to the Syrian nation, Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran's general policy on war-stricken countries of Syria, Iraq and Yemen is to preserve their territorial integrity, while supporting for the restoration of peace and stability in the Arab countries.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry's special envoy on Syria Sahabon hailed Iran's important role in Syria, calling it constructive and unique.

Sweden, from the very first days of crisis in Syria, has been a major contributor to the country, Shabon said, adding that the country has been actively involved in all international and regional conferences on Syria.

Shabon said Sweden is after the resolution of crisis in Syria by collaboration with the UN and the international community.

"As Iran has always said, the ground needs to be prepared to hold dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition," he added.
