Zarif: Iranian foreign policy based on close ties with Africa
Nairobi, Feb 2, IRNA Iranian foreign policy has always been based on very close ties with the African countries, said Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday.
Zarif is currently on a tour of African countries made the comment in a press conference after a meeting with his Kenyan counterpart Amina Chawahir Mohammed.
'A comprehensive foreign policy has globalist and multifaceted dimensions and Iran has always attached great significance to relations with Africa,' said Zarif, according to IRNA reporter accompanying the foreign minister.

He said that Africa has always been on Iran's side and Iran has always stood by Africa, which is 'a strategic partner of Iran about regional developments.'

'Iran is willing to hold regular consultations with the friendly African nations on issues of mutual interest, we need to use every possible opportunity for consultations, and in our today's talks with Ms. Mohammed, for instance we focused on the very complicated terrorism issue, in addition to expansion of bilateral ties.' he added.

Zarif expressed hope that the African tour would lead to enhanced ties between Iran and the African countries.
