Islamabad, Dec 4, IRNA Pakistan can under any condition, including need for combat against terrorism, count on Irans friendship, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said here Thursday.Although campaign against terrorism might be a lengthy process, the important point is that strong will is needed in this campaign and Iran considers it a duty for itself to cooperate with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, said Larijani in his meeting Pakistans Senate Speaker Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari.
Larijani who arrived in Pakistan on Thursday morning at the top of a parliamentary delegation on an invitation by his Pakistani counterpart added that the Iranian officials have come up with the conclusion that Pakistan is serious in its combat against terrorism, which is very important.
Referring to the criminal acts committed by outlawed groups in Iran-Pakistan border region, he said that such moves are aimed at harming the two countries friendly relations and asked the Pakistani Senate Speaker and the concerned officials in that country to oblige their countrys security forces to block the path for the terrorists criminal acts there.
He also said that the Iran-Pakistan friendly relations have deep roots in history and after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran too, different governments in both countries have preserved those good ties.
Our our trade balance that is below one billion dollars is not satisfactory under such conditions that Irans trade balance with some of its other neighbors (Turkey) is 20 billion dollars a year, added the Iranian parliament speaker.
Larijani also stressed the importance of the Pakistani sides completion of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, which he said will be a long stride in boosting bilateral ties, reminding the Pakistani official that Iran has been exporting gas to Turkey for many years and is willing to export gas to Pakistan as well.
Larijani and his accompanying delegation will leave Pakistan for Tehran on Friday evening after signing a parliamentary memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Pakistani parliament speaker, meeting the Pakistani President Mamnoun Hussain, and participating in a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart.
