Iran backs countries exposed to terrorism: Official

Tehran, Nov 13, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Afro-Arab Affairs Hossein Amir- Abdollahian said here on Thursday that Iran fully supports countries exposed to terrorism including Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting French Foreign Ministrys Director for Middle East and North Africa Jean Francois Giroux.
The two sides discussed ways for tackling terrorism and extremism as well as the latest developments in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Describing Iraq's unity and sovereignty as vital, he stressed that Iran is very optimistic about the future of this Arab country.

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes consultation with France on regional issues, Amir-Abdollahian added.

Giroux, for his part, referred to Iran as France's major partner in regional issues, emphasizing the need for expansion of mutual cooperation.

Pointing to Iran-France historical relations, he added the two countries attach great importance to stability, security and sovereignty of Lebanon.
