Officials from Iran and Iceland have underscored the need for promotion of bilateral economic relations between the two countries.
At a Friday meeting between Director of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Valiollah Afkhami-Rad and Icelands Accredited Ambassador to Tehran Gunnar Palsson, the two sides explored avenues for expanding mutual economic ties.

Afkhami-Rad pointed to the policy of the administration of President Hassan Rouhani to expand Irans relations with world nations and noted that the new atmosphere along with reduction of sanctions against the country has positively affected Tehrans interactions with other countries.

He also pointed to the great potential for Iran-Iceland cooperation, including scientific collaboration in fisheries, hydro-electric power, green energies, geology and tourism.

Palsson, for his part described the areas for future interactions as extensive and invited Irans business delegation to participate at a fisheries exhibition to be held in the capital city of Reykjavik on September 25.
