TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and the visiting Croatian and Cambodian legislators discussed new avenues for the consolidation of relations through utilizing their countries' abundant capacities.Speaking in a meeting with Chairman of the Croatian Parliament Foreign Policy Commission Milorad Pupovac, Larijani called for making use of abundant capacities to deepen friendly ties between Iran and Croatia.

He noted that Iran supports Croatias important role in maintaining peace in the Balkans.
The Croatian parliamentarian, for his part, hailed Irans role in campaign against terrorism, saying, as an influential country in the region, Iran can play an important role in settlement of regional and international crises.
The top Iranian lawmaker, in a separate meeting with visiting Cambodian Parliament Vice-Speaker Nguon Nhel, criticized the low level of economic and trade relations between the two countries which do not keep up with good political ties.
Larijani said that Iran and Cambodia cooperated well within regional and international organizations over the past years, urging both countries to continue their cooperation.
The Cambodian vice-speaker, for his part, called for enhanced relations between Iran and Cambodia in different areas, including agriculture, tourism and investment.

Iran and Croatia established diplomatic relations on April 18, 1992 when Iran became the 7th country to recognize the newly-independent Croatia. Croatia has an embassy in Tehran and Iran maintains an embassy and a cultural centre in Zagreb.
Croatian President Ivo Josipovic had earlier stressed his country's will for expanding ties with Iran in all the political, economic and cultural fields.
The Iranian parliament has in recent months intensified measures to strengthen ties with Asian states, including Cambodia.
Cambodia is a country located in the Southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Its total landmass is 181,035 square kilometers (69,898 sq mi), bordered by Thailand to the Northwest, Laos to the Northeast, Vietnam to the East, and the Gulf of Thailand to the Southwest.
