An Iranian official says 40 countries have so far declared readiness to attend an upcoming meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC, PUOICM) in Tehran.
We have invited 53 countries to the meeting and so far, 40 countries have voiced readiness to take part in the event, Hossein Sheikholeslam, international affairs adviser to the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday.

He added that some countries will send parliamentary delegations or their parliament speakers to the meeting while others will attend the event as observers.
�We expect more than 25 parliament speakers of the union member states to attend the meeting,� he said, adding that Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, the UAE, Iraq, Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco and Amman will be present in the meeting.
The 9th meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States is scheduled to be held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on February 14-19.

The Union is composed of the parliaments of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member states.
