Iran holds cultural week in S. Korea

Currently, Iran is running its cultural week on South Korea. During the week, several cultural programs including showcases, calligraphy workshops and presentation of books on Ferdowsi have been arranged.

IBNA:According to the public relations office of the Ferdowsi Foundation, Iran is holding its cultural week in South Korea.

The programs are being held in South Korea with the aim of highlighting the 50th anniversary of the start of relations between the two countries. The programs are arranged and supported by the Ferdowsi Foundation, Irans embassy in South Korea and the Federation of Heroic Sports of Iran.

As the first step, Iran attended the festival of Islamic countries in S. Korea in which an exhibition on Iranian handicraft, calligraphy and cultural products. Moreover, books on Ferdowsi and his poetry were presented in the exhibition at Irans stall; the books were published by the Ferdowsi Foundation.

For the representation of cultural heritage, especially works of renowned Iranians registered in the UNESCO, the foundation has for the first time prepared cultural works. To that effect, it has designed various posters depicting Irans cultural and tourist attractions.

In the second step, Irans artistic delegation attended the Gang-seo cultural center and held the Iranian night program in the presence of Korean members of the parliament. Irans ambassador to South Korea Ahmad Masoumifar delivered a speech in the program and a traditional music group had a performance.

Moreover, parallel with the Hafez day, a gallery of calligraphic works themed at Hafez poetry and Persian literature by Mohammad Yarahamadi was also held in Seouls Gachon University, the leading medical university in Korea. For the last few years, officials of the university have been preparing the establishment of its Persian language chair.

The scientific conference of Music and Cultural Junctures of Iran and Korea war held at the anthropology department of the Hanyang University. The event was attended by a number of top researchers and experts.

During the conference, Prof. Lee, head Hanyang University Museum and the conferences secretary, delivered a speech about 1,500 years of friendly relations between Iran and Korea. Also, Ahmad Masoumifar was the other keynote speaker of the event.

A multilingual exhibition of cultural Iranian works and live music performance were other parts of the conference.
