Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA The deputy head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization proposed a joint Iran-Russia workshop be established to help promote cooperation in the field of handicrafts.
Bahman Namvar-Motlaq made the proposal in a meeting with visiting Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Grigory Ivliev Monday.
Iran and Russia enjoy profound cultural relationships and have had cooperation in different fields since the ancient times, he said, noting that such cooperation can continue in cultural field.
Deploring that bilateral ties in the field of culture are not satisfactory considering the antiquity of their culture and civilization, he hoped that mutual ties would further improve under the Government of Prudence and Hope.
Handicrafts reflect our culture and artworks as well as handcrafts reveal the Iranian artists talents, he said, hoping that strengthening cultural ties will pave the way for Russian citizens to get acquainted with the Iranian handicrafts.
Namvar-Motlaq also proposed organizing an exhibition of Iranian artifacts held by Russia, in Tehran.
Stressing the need to strengthen cultural ties, he further noted that the tow countries can pursue their cooperation in the field by holding joint exhibitions and exchanging artists.
Ivliev, for his part, accepted the Iranian officials proposal to establish handicrafts workshop and said that there are numerous areas of cooperation in the field of handicrafts for the two countries.
Russias Handicrafts Association can help promote bilateral ties between the two countries, he said.
