Iran has dispatched the fourth consignment of humanitarian supplies, including medicines and medical equipment, to Syria to help people affected by the unrest in the Arab country.The consignment was delivered to officials from Syrias Health Ministry on Sunday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has sent medicines, medical equipment and a few ambulances to Syria, said Deputy Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Abbas Golrou.
He stressed the importance of helping Syrian patients as a humanitarian and moral duty at the current juncture when Damascus is suffering from economic sanctions.
The United States, Europe Union and their allies have imposed sanctions on Syria over the unrest in the country.
Syria's Deputy Minister of Health Raef Yasin, for his part, said the Wests economic sanctions against his country have led to a reduction of medicines for refractory diseases.
He appreciated Irans great humanitarian aid for the Syrian people.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011.
According to the reports, the West and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants inside Syria.
On July 25, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said more than 100,000 people have been killed in Syria since the outbreak of foreign-sponsored militancy in the country. Millions of others have been also displaced in the violence.
