'Iran is on right path of cooperation with IAEA'

The Iran Project - In a phone conversation on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian informed EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are cooperating effectively.

The two officials discussed and exchanged views on some topics of mutual interest, including the Niger crisis, the Ukraine war, the relations between Iran and the European Union, as well as the removal of sanctions.

However, Amirabdollahian criticized the EU for maintaining sanctions, calling it a non-constructive approach, noting, "Sanctions are an unfriendly measure in the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Europe."

Amirabdollahian expressed satisfaction with the release of Iranian funds in South Korea and stated that a return to agreement and commitments is possible with serious will from all parties.

The Iranian top diplomat voiced concern about the crisis in Niger and emphasized the importance of the rule of law and avoiding military intervention.

Regarding Ukraine, he said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran does not compromise with anyone in its foreign policy approaches, and as it has previously statedclearlyit supports Palestine."

Amirabdollahianreiterated Iran's call for a political solution to the Ukraine conflict, once again dismissing the allegations that Iranian drones are used against Ukraine as totally baseless.

For his part, Borrell welcomed progress in Iran's relations with regional countries and expressed optimism about resolving misunderstandings through dialogue.

He emphasized the importance of Iran-IAEA cooperation and his commitment to returning all parties to the JCPOA. Additionally, Borrell stated that the EU always defends Palestine's rights.
