FNA - Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami said on Tuesday that the IRGC is resolute to give the country's enemies an unforgettable lesson.

�The IRGC is determined to see off enemies of the Islamic Iran to the graveyard of history with unforgettable defeats and humiliations,� Major General Salami said in a letter to the Iranian Parliament.

In the letter read for the parliament in the open session of today, the IRGC�s first-in-command appreciated lawmakers' support for the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps against US hostile measures.

The letter was read by Akbar Ranjzadeh, a presiding board member of the Parliament.

Two weeks ago, parliament passed a legislation in support of the IRGC against the US after Washington's blacklisting of the elite force as an FTO.

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani sent the act to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on last Monday after all legal procedures of the law were specified by the legislature.

The bill was put for voting during an open session of the parliament April 23.

Reciprocal designation of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist organization, requiring the government to act �decisively� against any US measure potentially compromising the Islamic Republic�s interests, requiring the government and Armed Forces to preemptively prevent US forces from using available resources against those interests, requiring Iran�s intelligence apparatuses to identify CENTCOM commanders and those in charge of its affiliates to enable their prosecution, and tasking the Judiciary to mandate such prosecution, requiring the Iranian government with supporting all the natural and legal persons, who cooperate with the IRGC thus lying in the way of harm by the United States are among the articles of the bill approved today by the parliament.

Article 6, which mandates legal, political, and diplomatic endeavors aimed at shuttering the US�s regional bases and blocking the US forces� access to regional resources and Article 7, which subjects countries and people cooperating with the US designation to retaliatory Iranian efforts were also approved by the lawmakers.

Other Articles of the bill also subject any Iranian organizations potentially withholding support for the IRGC citing US sanctions to punitive measures, task the government with legal measures against the US at international organizations, task the Planning and Budget Organization to allocate the required budget for implementing the articles of the motion, require the government to present a quarterly report on its performance in countering the US measures to the national security commission, require the Ministry of Intelligence and other intelligence bodies to identify all those involved in the US designation, and stress that all tasks in the bill related to the Armed Forces are to be implemented according to the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Article 14 of the bill also stresses that the law is to be put into force upon ratification.

Earlier in April, the IRGC was formally blacklisted by the US as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization" following a relevant announcement by President Donald Trump on 8 April.

Responding to Washington's move, Iran immediately declared the US as "state sponsor of terrorism" and American forces in the region "terrorist groups".

Iran's top security body, the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), in a statement declared the United States a �terrorist government�, and blacklisted the "CENTCOM and all its affiliates a terrorist group�.

The SNSC - that is headed by President Hassan Rouhani - condemned Washington's move, calling it �an illegal and dangerous action� that poses a �major threat to regional and international peace and security and grossly violates the rules of international law".

The statement further condemned the US decision as �unlawful and unreasonable action� prompted by the Islamic Republic's regional influence and success in fighting against terrorists, and blamed CENTCOM for harming Iran�s national security as well as ruining the lives of �innocent Iranian and non-Iranian individuals� to promote the US �aggressive policies� in West Asia (the Middle-East).

"The Islamic Republic of Iran regards this baseless move as a major threat to regional and international peace and security and a blatant violation of the compelling rules of international law and the United Nations Charter," Iran's top security body reiterated.

Also, former IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari blasted Washington for designating the IRGC as a "terrorist organization", stressing that his forces would further increase power in the year ahead.

General Jafari, who was succeeded by his deputy Major General Hossein Salami last week, described the US move as "ridiculous", saying that "the IRGC is in the hearts of the people".

�God willing, the IRGC will grow stronger in the coming year in defensive and offensive fields more than before,� he said.

�Much to enemies� dismay, the IRGC and the Army will stand together and will continue to support the deprived and the oppressed people all over the world without fear,� General Jafari said.
