Strong participation in election will foil enemies plots: Mottaki

Irans presidential hopeful Manouchehr Mottaki says a massive turnout in the upcoming election in June will thwart the enemies plots against the country.
Mottaki, who is affiliated with the principlist Coalition of Five, also noted that active participation of people in presidential polls will help to reduce the Wests pressures on Iran.

The former foreign minister said Irans biggest challenges are soaring inflation and unemployment.

Mottaki, who served as foreign minister in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejads administration from 2005 to 2010, added that he has serious plans to address those challenges.

He stated that he will mainly focus on providing incentives for economic growth by supporting industrial output.

The Coalition of Five also includes vice speakers of Iran Majlis, Mohammad-Reza Bahonar and Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard, head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al-e Eshaq, as well as former interior minister and current head of the General Inspection Office of Iran, Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi.

The Islamic Republics 11th presidential election will be held on June 14. Presidential hopefuls can register from May 7 to 11.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election after the Guardian Council vets the candidates for qualifications.
