Tasnim� Mayor of Tehran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf who is running for president held a meeting with a group of lawmakers in parliament on Monday to unveil his economic plans, particularly for tackling unemployment and creating jobs.

In the meeting with the parliamentarians, Qalibaf highlighted major achievements made under pragmatic policies during his post as the commander of police a couple of years ago.

The ex-IRGC general also pointed to �creation of 5 million jobs� as a pressing need that he will push for if he wins the upcoming presidential election.

Qalibaf, 56, said that after taking office, he would immediately set up a national job center system to enroll all applicants looking for jobs across the country.

He further said President Hassan Rouhani�s second term would seriously jeopardize the country�s economy.

Qalibaf and five other candidates, including the incumbent president, have launched their campaigns for the May 19 election.

During the previous presidential election in June 2013, Rouhani garnered 50.7 percent of a total of over 36 million votes.

The number of eligible voters in the upcoming election is estimated to be around 1.5 million higher than the 50.5 million in the previous round four years ago.
