Powers to offer Iran sanctions relief at nuclear talks: U.S. official
Major powers will offer Iran some sanctions relief during talks in Almaty, Kazakhstan, this week if Tehran agrees to curb its nuclear program, a U.S. official said on Monday.

However, the Islamic Republic could face more economic pain if the standoff remains unresolved, the official said ahead of the February 26-27 meeting, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Iranian negotiators team arrives in Almaty
Iran’s team of negotiators headed by Secretary of the country’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday evening, IRNA reported.

Iranian team of negotiators are scheduled to meet with P5+1 representatives, including Russia, China, US, France, UK and Germany on Tuesday.
Iran c.bank sees rising inflation as sanctions hit output
Iran’s inflation is continuing to rise and is likely to top 30 percent in coming weeks as economic sanctions contribute to shortages and stockpiling by anxious consumers, the central bank governor was quoted as saying on Monday.

“The reduction in supply of some product lines and the psychological effect of concern about access to goods have led to inflation,” the Iranian Students’ News Agency quoted Mahmoud Bahmani as saying at a conference on monetary policy.
Iranian Army to hold specialized drill in southwest Iran: Cmdr.
A senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Republic’s Army will hold a specialized drill in the southwest of the country in the near future.


Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said on Sunday that the exercise would be held by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20).
Iran boosts oil storage with facility to hold 500,000 barrels
Iran has added storage for as much as 500,000 barrels of oil, the third such facility it established in southern Bushehr province in the past year, the Oil Ministry news website, Shana, reported.

The new facility will increase Iran’s storage capacity in Bushehr’s Bahregan region to 4 million barrels, according to the report, which cited Mohammad-Bagher Soleimani, Iranian Offshore Oil Co.’s production director.
Iranian media criticize Oscar win for ‘Argo’
For the second consecutive year many Iranians had good reason to stay up late into the night to watch the Academy Awards ceremony.

Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” which recounts the successful rescue mission of several American diplomats during the 1979 hostage crisis in Tehran, won best picture Sunday night, and Iranian media was quick to react on Monday.
