Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs said that statistics has it that Iran boasts of high manpower capacity to promote knowledge-based economy through research and technology.
Addressing 'Education, Research and Technology' Conference on Sixth Development Plan, Sourena Sattari added that until eight years ago, 75 percent of the country's revenues were made from sales of crude and other raw materials, but now the figure has fallen to 20 percent and this is a great achievement.
Referring to numerous cooperation deals signed by Iran and foreign countries in the past two months, he said that following the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), many foreign companies came to Iran to conclude cooperation deal in the fields of nanotechnology and biotechnology.
'Iran is now one of the successful countries in the region in many modern sciences, including nano, as currently some 20 countries are involved in the field,' he said.
Noting that oil economy does not meet today's needs, Sattari said that the Government of Hope and Prudence first proposed knowledge-based economy as the way out of current problems.
