VP calls for enhanced Tehran-Baku ties

Tehran, Dec 21, IRNA First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri on Monday underlined the need for promotion of all-out relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.


Speaking during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev, Jahangiri said that speeding up the political and economic agreements between Iran and Azerbaijan over last year was a major step in expansion of bilateral ties.

Referring to regional extremists and terrorist groups, like Daesh, as a threat to the entire region, Jahangiri voiced Tehran's readiness to cooperate with Baku in the campaign against terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Azeri minister referred to the meetings between the presidents of the two countries over the past two years and said that bilateral relations have witnessed significant progress.

Mustafayev said that Iran and Azerbaijan enjoy abundant of capacities for promotion of cooperation and joint investments.

He said that his country is ready to increase the level of cooperation with Iran.
